Hi! I am a PhD student at the department of Communication and Cognition at Tilburg University, the Netherlands, and I currently research the understanding of mental events in visual storytelling, like flashbacks, dreams, and hallucinations.
A creator at heart, I followed the art of language and storytelling throughout my education and career. I am fascinated by how people extract meaning from subtle cues, and how those cues shape the message we take away. With an analytical and cognitive focus, I investigate related topics in verbal and visual language, like how language affects readers’ mental imagery or visual coherence. My ambition is to apply these skills in further research on stylistic impact and communicative understanding.
At the moment, I am part of the Visual Language Lab at Tilburg University, where we investigate comics from all over the world to see what visual languages we may find across the globe. For more information about my projects, see Research.
